The Wedding Program

The wedding program is an important guide to the ceremony. Programs advise the guests during the ceremony on the wedding details. They outline the most formal part of the wedding celebration. Depending on tradition or customs the program may contain different elements.
Here are common elements contained in a wedding program.
- Wedding date and location
- Your full names
- Parents of the Bride
- Parents of the Groom
- Wedding Party Members
(brief description of their relationship to you) - Officiant
- Musicians
Listing of Events
- Prelude
- Processional (Music title and artist)
- Readings
(reference for the reading and name of person performing the reading) - Ceremony
- Unity Candle
- Recessional
- Special message from the couple (thank you to the parents and/or family and friends)
Since wedding programs may be kept as a keepsake for your wedding you want to nicely present the information. Supplies for wedding programs can be purchased from local arts and crafts supplies stores or office supply stores. There are software programs for designing the programs, or you can use Word and a decent looking font.
Make sure the programs are located in an easy to find area, or they are handed out to guests.
